Roberto Abbado and Orchestra Filarmonica del Teatro Comunale di Bologna's great performance at the Enescu Festival in Bucharest
Another notable moment of the program was the performance of the Filarmonica del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, conducted by Roberto Abbado, a regular of the Filarmonica's "George Enescu" season, and the soloists, the tireless, creative, generous musician Răzvan Popovici on violin and Anna Tifu on violin. Program: Enescu - Ballade for violin and orchestra, Mozart, again, with the Sinfonia concertante for violin, viola and orchestra. I will not say now, for reasons of space, that the two soloists and the orchestra were flawless. Kudos to Răzvan Popovici and Anna Trifu for a musical dialogue that far surpassed that of their colleagues a few nights earlier on the same stage. Beethoven's Pastoral was once again a welcome musical highlight. Not only because of the rhizomatic thematic dialogue with Haydn's symphonies, Morning and Noon, that Beethoven continues in the idyll, but mostly because it was simply Beethoven played admirably. A Beethoven that did not lack Beethovenism, as is too often the case, unfortunately, on local stages and in local philharmonics.
