The
Accademia Bizantina, founded in 1983 in Ravenna, is today accredited, by
the most qualified critics, as one of the best ensembles operating in
the interpretation of the Italian musical production through the 17th
and 18th century.
Its repertoire particularly stands out for its
rigorous style, the colourful interpretation and the skilful technique
on original instruments.
The Accademia Bizantina is often invited to
prestigious international festivals in Salzburg, Lucern, Ravenna,
Holstein, Cervantino, and arranges concerts and tournees in Europe,
Israel, Mexico, the United States and Japan.
They have consistently recorded with Denon Columbia,
Arts and RCA, as well as collaborated in radio and TV recordings for RAI
and further networks in Italy and abroad.
Since January 1996 the ensemble has been conducted by Ottavio Dantone,
who had already been playing the harpsichord of the group since 1989
